Nothing made more sense to me than the concept of the New Rich when I read about it in “The 4-Hour Work Week”. Although I had always had this mindset, reading it from Tim’s book clarified that I wasn’t alone. I always had thoughts creep up in my mind that this thinking was stupid and I should get into the work force and work until retirement like most people. After reading the book though, I realized that these thoughts were wrong and it wasn’t just me thinking of a different way of living life. I just finished reading a book titled “Zorba the Greek” and have to say it was great. I don’t normally read fiction but after hearing many positive thoughts on the book being a inspiring read, I thought I would give it a try.
One quote from the book that really intrigued me was “While experiencing happiness, we have difficulty in being conscious of it. I get inspired by documentaries all the time. They are an essential tool for becoming educated in what is really happening in the world around us. After a year of wanting to see this impressive film, I finally got the chance. It’s called Sharkwater and was filmed by a Canadian who has an immense love for sharks. The initial reason for the film was to show people that sharks are not our enemies and are not as dangerous toward humans as we think they are. This song has been out for quite some time so most of you have probably heard and forgotten about it. This is one song that should NOT be forgotten about.
Some people don’t think it’s a song but I do. Sure it’s mostly talking with a catchy beat in the back but almost every lyric in the song is inspirational and something to really make you appreciate life.
The song is titled “The Sunscreen Song” by Baz Luhrmann. Baz is actually a film director and the man who directed “Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo Dicaprio. This “song” was actually an article written in the Chicago Tribune on June 1, 1997. The writer was Mary Schmich.
The song quickly became a hit and the lyrics are full of inspiration. Below are some of the powerful wisdom spoke throughout the track.
