The other day while riding the subway through Mexico City, a man walked by selling math dictionaries. That’s right, mathematic dictionaries being sold on the subway for $2. Then another man walked by selling gum. Then someone walked by with a stereo strapped to their chest playing music from a pirated CD they were selling.
It’s truly endless, both in products, and the amount of people selling things. Of course, I began to think of “sales” and the many platforms available to distribute products.
This sort of stuff is very common in Mexico. Everywhere you go, someone is trying to sell you something. Even when your stopped at a red light, people walk in-between the cars selling everything including cigarettes, gum, candy, and much bigger items like coffee tables and crafts. It really is endless. Some may find this annoying while others, like me, actually find it very convenient.
The point is, the world is your platform. Maybe your products can be sold online. Or maybe in a store. Or maybe in a market. Or in the street. Maybe in a subway, outside at a ball game, or maybe at a trade show. Maybe all of the above.
There are many platforms available out there. Whether for selling something or expressing something.
Which ones are you using?
